Linton Meagher
Born in 1975 in Sydney, Linton Meagher studied art at the Julian Ashton
School and at the University
of Sydney, completing a Bachelor of Arts
majoring in Fine Arts in 1996.
Meagher’s work explores the ways that
objects, such as pills, surgical scalpels and bullet shells, can
be
taken out of their usual
context and presented in a way that challenges the viewer to question
their wider
meaning in society. Repellent objects become objects of
beauty and the repetition of objects allows for
the creation of images
that are often at odds with the individual object. Meagher’s
work has evolved from
traditional oil on canvas works to mixed media
works using resin and perspex.
His work has previously been exhibited at Maunsell Wickes at Barry
Stern Galleries (2007), the
blank_space gallery (2005), the Sheraton
On The Park Hotel Ten Young Artists Exhibitions (1998 and 1999),
the
Global Arts Factory (1997) and the Tin Sheds Gallery (1995). In addition
to numerous private collections
in Australia, London and Paris, corporate
collections and commissions include Xenos, T. & C. Business
Consulting
and the World Health Organisation.
